The Deputy King of Bahrain, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, expressed his appreciation of the hard work done by the national workforce of Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), which helped maintain consistent production rates and maintained the company’s position in the international market amidst Iranian hostility towards the country. During his visit to the company’s plants, the Deputy King thanked the workers of Alba on behalf of King Hamad, mentioning that the company, established in 1971, was a symbol of professionalism and devotion of Bahrain’s industrial workforce.
He referred to the 55 years of unbroken work of the company, which evolved from a regular company into an operator of the world’s biggest aluminum smelter plant, stressing the importance of the company’s work within the framework of the country’s economic development.
This visit followed the accomplishment of Alba’s 50-million working hours without any accidents, which, according to Prince Salman, was a result of strict adherence to safety measures by the company’s workers.
The Deputy King also welcomed Alba’s recent acquisition of Aluminium Dunkerque, the largest aluminium smelter in the European Union, calling it a step toward building a global low-carbon aluminium platform and expanding the company’s footprint in international markets.
He said Dunkerque’s automated systems, integrated production capacity and skilled workforce leave it well placed to meet rising European demand for sustainably produced aluminium.
Alba chairman Khalid Al Rumaihi said the royal recognition of the company’s workforce would motivate employees to keep building their capabilities and advancing the firm’s strategic goals. Senior Alba officials attended the visit alongside board members.
