Gulf Cooperation Council nations must build more resilient agricultural partnerships and reinforce regional supply networks to protect local markets from global disruptions, Bahrain’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa urged Thursday.
Speaking during a high-level audience at Gudaibiya Palace, Prince Salman emphasized that joint economic strategy must focus heavily on the uninterrupted flow of essential commodities across borders.
The audience brought together the GCC Secretary General Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi and visiting ministerial leaders who gathered in Manama for the 38th session of the GCC Committee for Agricultural Cooperation and Food Security.
Bahrain hosted the summit under its broader chairmanship of the 46th GCC Supreme Council session, commonly called the Bahrain Summit.
Highlighting the directives of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince affirmed that regional food safety depends directly on cross-border agricultural integration and dynamic trade networks.
The forum evaluated unified agricultural strategies, tech-driven farming initiatives, and coordinated emergency response mechanisms for supply shocks.
High-ranking dignitaries including Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak and Minister of Cabinet Affairs Hamad bin Faisal Al Malki attended the talks.
Representatives from member states expressed gratitude to Bahrain for spearheading joint initiatives that shield regional markets against trade uncertainties.
The delegates noted that joint infrastructure projects and streamlined trade channels remain fundamental to long-term stability across the Arabian Peninsula.
