WANA (Jul 30) – The Iranian Army has announced that it carried out the 26th phase of its “Saegheh” operation, launching a drone strike against U.S. military facilities at Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain.
According to a statement issued by the Army’s Public Relations Office, the operation was conducted in retaliation for the death of Brigadier General Pilot Majid Kazemi, a Su-24 fighter pilot in the Iranian Air Force. The statement said Iranian loitering munitions targeted power generators, navigation systems, and administrative and logistical buildings used by U.S. forces at Sheikh Isa Air Base.
The army further stated that the latest attack, along with previous strikes on U.S. military bases across the region, had inflicted significant damage on equipment and facilities despite the bases’ extensive air defense systems.
The statement described Sheikh Isa Air Base as one of the most strategic U.S. military installations in the Persian Gulf, serving as a hub for reconnaissance aircraft as well as helicopter and drone maintenance. It claimed that repeated strikes by Iran’s armed forces had seriously degraded the base’s combat and logistical support capabilities.
