The weekly meeting of ministers, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and held at Gudaibiya Palace, emphasized the need to take juridical measures to compensate for the damage to sovereign nations in the Middle East region affected by ongoing cross-border military conflicts.
Regional security issues were raised as well during the meeting. The Council strongly condemned recent attacks carried out by drones launched from Iraqi territory and targeting Saudi Arabia’s strategically significant East-West oil pipeline located in the Riyadh and Medina provinces.
The ministers described such actions as an act of aggression against the entire international community and violated the UN Charter, as oil infrastructure is one of the pillars of the world economy.
Moreover, the Cabinet recalled attacks on economic centers and ships in the Red Sea and the Bab Al Mandab Strait conducted by Houthi militants, which posed a serious threat to maritime security.
In response to maritime transit concerns, Bahrain reaffirmed its steadfast position regarding operations inside the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
The government emphasized that any official regulatory framework governing the vital waterway must strictly align with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and receive formal approval from the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
Ministers highlighted that transit rights through the corridor must remain open to all international commercial traffic without financial tariffs, permit restrictions, or discriminatory barriers, noting that the security of all GCC member states remains intrinsically tied to unhindered maritime access.
Shifting to institutional developments, the Cabinet celebrated the recipients of the 2026 UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Education, recognizing the monarch’s ongoing role in fostering international educational initiatives.
The session concluded by reviewing domestic progress in strengthening parliamentary institutions and advancing democratic governance frameworks under the kingdom’s broader national development vision. Bahrain Economy
